Central Foundation Boys' School, GB

Central Foundation Boys’ School (CFBS) is a high performing all boys comprehensive school located in the heart of Tech City on the Silicon Roundabout in Shoreditch. Topakustik focused on the walls of the new subterranean sports hall.
In order to optimise both teacher and student enjoyment of the space, the team supplied wall panels that absorb the sounds of whistle blows, shouts, and plimsoll squeaks – establishing an open space for physical activity in which organisation and communication can remain effective – while being robust enough to withstand the bangs and crashes of fast-moving students without being damaged by impacts. Achieving this balance was really important for us as sports hall need to be a space that was not only acoustically excellent, but also fun to inhabit.
