Steig Living and Working Campus, Appenzell CH

The association "Steig Wohnen und Arbeiten" operates a residential home as well as workshops and studios for people with disabilities in Appenzell.

The new building is based on a square with a grid system. This is supported by a wooden structure and is visible both inside and outside. The continuous window band on the ground floor provides an unrestricted view of the scattered settlement landscape of Appenzell and the Alpstein.

The wall and ceiling cladding has been executed in white fir veneer. These are Micro-perforated (Topakustik Micro) and thus blend almost invisibly into the overall concept of the building. We believe that Kellenberger Architektur GmbH has created a convincing solution, also for an audibly more pleasant indoor climate and atmosphere.
